There are also different methods for evaluating the size, that is, the height, of the lower jaw in the upper-lower plane. Among these, the most practical approach is to evaluate the lower jaw height by dividing the lower face area into two parts that should be aesthetically equal. In this evaluation, it is expected that the lower lip skin mucous line (vermilion line) on an aesthetically acceptable face will come to the middle of the distance between the lowest point of the nose (subnasale) and the lowest point of the lower jaw (Menton). If the distance between the vermilion and menton is shorter, it can be planned to increase the height of the chin, and if it is longer, it can be reduced.
Especially in patients with congenital anomalies involving facial bones, asymmetries in different planes can be observed together in the lower jaw.
